On November 30 2015, Northern China was covered by a blanket of dense smog, spreading over an area roughly the size of Spain. In Beijing PM2.5 levels have stayed off the charts for 4 days, reaching over 900mg/m3 in parts of the capital. The city was put under an orange alert, which has imposed temporary restrictions on construction and industry and authorities have advised residents to stay indoors. This collection captures everyday life in the midst of an ‘airpocalypse’. Beijing, China, 2016
